when Addie turned 6, her auntie gave her a book called ‘Now We Are Six’. full of poems, but Addie’s favorite was the one that described all the ages up to and including, the wonder-ful 6…”and i think i’ll be six now forever and ever…” well, life doesn’t really work that way…they continue to grow older, and hopefully, sweeter. Addie read this poem again on the eve of turning 7 and said her auntie really needed to get her a new book now about being 7. she plans to keep the old one, though, so she can look at it from time to time to remind her of what it was like being 6.
we celebrated her birthday with a special Tea at Paris in a Cup in old-town Orange. my mom came with us. just the girls in our hats (they had a hat contest). the spot was perfect, the food was beautiful and very yummy and they even gave her a tiara and a stuffed pink poodle after the meal as a special gift! happy birthday, Addie! i know you are already planning your birthday for next year (she wants to get her ears pierced!!!) but, can we just enjoy 7 for now?? 8 will be here before we know it
